Athleisure makeup trend is on the rise. But the question remains: Is it correct to mix makeup with sweat?
Makeup isn’t great for the skin anyway since it is first of all going to sit in the pores and clog them. This leads to the formation of comedones and pimples. More so if you are using the wrong type of products.
With exercise your body’s metabolic rate goes up and as your heart rate goes up and you start oxygenating your tissues, the makeup can act as a barrier for the toxins to flush out. The sweat helps to cool the body and the toxin elimination is hampered.
What can be the harmful reactions?
If the pores are clogged with makeup it can lead to comedone formation and pimples.
If using such products, how should a person wear the makeup so as to avoid any chemical reactions.
Leaving it as natural as possible is always better before a workout. A simple moisturizer if working out indoors or a sunscreen if working out outdoors is good enough. You could just wear a tinted sunscreen, an eyeliner, mascara and a tinted lip balm.
If you have to wear makeup you may look for mineral makeup which is more natural.
A lot of brands are now coming up with athleisure makeup which is a lot lighter for workouts, not yet available in India as of now.
Cleanse makeup immediately after working out to remove all the sweat and debris.
