Nutrition; An Important Aspect of Woman Empowerment in India

Digital Doctor 19 Mar, 2023

A healthy and balanced diet is important for the well-being of every human. However, for women, the requirement for vitamins, minerals, and other enriching nutrients is higher than man. Experts suggest that despite the low-calorie count requirements, the demand for nutrition is higher for a woman’s body as it undergoes major changes during the lifecycle.

A nutritious diet paired with an active lifestyle enables a woman to undergo the physical and mental changes in the body that come with puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, and more. Not to forget that all these life stages bring a myriad of challenges for skincare which again can be tacked through effective replenishment of lost nutrients.

Women empowerment through nutrition

Women are no more limited to the household and today we have several industries led by women. How an economy grows widely depends on the contribution the modern woman makes to it and to contribute efficiently, this woman needs to eat right.

Even to nurture a healthy family, the woman of the house must have the right strength and ability. This again brings us to the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that you include in your diet. Sadly, not many women are concerned about their nourishment. In fact. A majority of women aren’t aware of their bodily requirements for different life stages in terms of a healthy and balanced diet.

The 2021 Global Nutrition Report concludes that the rate of anemia is rising in females, especially young girls, and middle-aged women. In our country, poor diet, lack of medical care, poor sex education, and several other reasons contribute to a drastically rising case of poor women’s health.

Taking care of your nutrition

The need for nutrition in different phases of a woman’s life is unique but Vitamins and minerals make a major part. This is the very reason why healthcare professionals prescribe multivitamins and minerals to women during puberty, post-delivery, after menopause, and on several other occasions. Even the Government of India runs a wide range of programs to prevent malnutrition-related complications in women.

If you haven’t been taking your vitamins and minerals lately, it is the right time to get started. You are the future of the country, and you deserve to be fit, healthy, and well-nourished. To begin with:

Plan your diet

You must know what a healthy meal is for you and focus on consuming that much amount of calories in a day with extra care to nutrients in it.
