The Right Way to Moisturize for Pigmentation

Digital Doctor 05 Jun, 2022

Using a moisturizer is a great way to maintain the moisture level in the skin. Our skin has a natural tendency to lose water and it is important to form a barrier to ensure that it does not become drier than it should. Using a moisturizer for pigmentation is helpful. The right moisture content in the skin ensures that the skin cells are healthy enough to produce Melanin, the pigment responsible for the colour of the skin. With poor hydration, the cells might lose their ability to maintain the pigmentation level. However, this does not mean that moisturizer alone can save you from the problems related to pigmentation.

It is recommended to use a moisturizer that has an SPF content in it. Using a moisturizer that enhances the natural radiance of the skin and also offers prevention against sun damage is recommended. As sun damage leads to hyperpigmentation pretty often, using a high-quality moisturizer is a great help. Use a high SPF moisturizer twice a day and you can see a reduction in dark spots.

Another comment issue is pigmentation of the lip. Lip discoloration is a common problem and lips can change to different colours. here are some of the core reasons for lip discoloration.

Blue lips:

The leading reason for blue lips is poor oxygen circulation. The condition is called cyanosis. There are several reasons why the oxygen content in the blood can decrease. Some of the common reasons for lower blood content include the heart, circulatory system, and lungs.

White lips:

You might have noticed white lips at some time and it is an indication of anaemia. When the red blood cell count in the body drops, it leads to white lips. Low intake of iron, Vitamin B12, blood loss from the body are the common reasons for anaemia.

Black Lips:

This can be an outcome of excessive smoking, trauma or injury to the lips or any disease such as Addison’s disease.

Before you start treating lip pigmentation, it is recommended to connect with a reputed dermatologist. You can find professional and experienced dermatologists at the Skin Beauty Pal app.

However, if you are dealing with a serious darkening/ pigmentation problem, it is recommended to connect with a dermatologist and seek medical help. You can safely and comfortably connect with a leading dermatologist in India through the Skin Beauty Pal app.
